For this project, with a group you’ll research one of the four assigned ancient empires; Mughal, China, Ottoman, Muscovy. Each member should be an expert on whichever ancient empire they looked into. Next, the group has to inform and educate each other with the different pieces of information. Then we had to take all the different elements of each ancient empire and create our own empire. Once decided, you make a slideshow introducing your empire and its elements which are location, economy, military strength, political structure, social hierarchy. Last, we present the final designed empire.
In the first part of the project, information skills and self-directional skills were strongly used in this because we had to research and learn about an empire on our own. In the second part, communication skills and interpersonal skills were used often because we had to share our knowledge with other people in our group. Making sure we understand each other was a big priority.
I’m proud of the final empire my group and I created because during the weekend we had a lack of communication, eventually we got in contact with each other and made final decisions for our project. I am also proud of my overall presentation because I contained a lot of knowledge and got to successfully show my empire to other students. This improved my global awareness skills because to do this project, you need to understand other empires around the world and how their lifestyle is. The most difficult part was the lack of communication with my group. Figuring out who is gonna do what was something that took a while to solve. If I were to restart, I would add more statistics and numbers into my empire. For example providing the tax rate for each social class.
